Ranked #14 - Layla by Eric Clapton Duane Allman
Eric Clapton's trademark song, Layla contains some of Clapton's most famous guitar work. Co-written with Duane Allman, the lyrics are about Clapton's love for his friend's (George Harrison's) wife, Patti Boyd. The guitar work in the first part of the song is fast - almost frantic, as it depicts the situation. The second part of the song, containing the piano solo, is much calmer. As guitar solos between Clapton and Allman are traded and the song comes to a close, you can hear the that the tension has been released.
